DIY Collage Wall

How to Make a DIY COLLAGE WALL

I’m sorta a Pinterest junkie. I could spend hours on there letting my creative juices flow and before I know it I’m planning on spending our life’s savings 😛 HAHA, no but for real it’s such a great space for catering to your inspirational drive. Thus where I got the idea to do a little DIY Collage Wall. In this post I share how to make a collage wall for yourself, OR where you can purchase some pretty rad ones that are similar.

In college I had a photo collage wall similar to this but had completely forgotten about how much I loved it until about a year ago when I saw @tezza (one of my fav insta ppl guys) and I was like hey my college dorm room wall!! I really really, REALLY wanted to buy her collage kit…YES, you can buy a collage kit to hang in your home just like THIS without having to go through all the extra work I did HERE

BUT, when I told my husband my plan he wasn’t to keen on the price of it….(it’s actually really reasonable to me at about $90) but you know men.

SOO, I started collecting old magazines at one of my new found favorite second hand stores called BOOKMAN’s in Mesa, AZ. They have so many cool vintage pieces, old school electronics, magazines and books for days!! I also got my new record player there for about $35 which you can actually purchase new HERE or at Target for nearly $120! SCORE 😀

I offer many tips on editing and photography so be sure to check out the drop down link above titled “photography”.

You can watch the Video below to see how this DIY Collage wall all came together and shop the post 🙂

If you know me I’m really a huge thrifter and get a lil high off a good steal! All in all I’d say I spent about $5.00 in magazines $35 on the record player, and $7.00 on a vintage photography pillow case for a total lil makeover of about $47!

The lights, fireplace, and other decor pieces I already had. This did save me some money since the original collage wall kit is close to $100. (Don’t get me wrong though, I STILL want Tezza’s collage kit :-P). But isn’t that amazing!

OTHER COLLAGE WALL PURCHASE OPTIONS:

I’m really happy with how this collage wall turned out and the only thing I’m on the hunt for now to complete the space is a fun Kilim or Bohemian rug. My girls had a BLAST helping me go through the magazines and every picture with lips or the color red Shae would say, “it’s soooo prettttty, mama!” Even my husband came home and was like, “WOW! It’s actually really cool!” Coming from Mr. “I like to hide my emotions”, THAT’S BIG!

It’s so refreshing to walk into your space you spend so much time in and just be inspired and happy to be in there. As I take more pictures myself I do plan to print them out and hang them up there myself for a personalized touch. Some of the prints on the wall I actually did make, such as the “be different sign” and other photos!

  1. Hello! I LOVE this blog post you made. I want to try to make one, however I live in Maryland and not near your recommended store.

What magazines did you use and where can I find them? Thanks!

    1. Hi,thank you soo much! I used old magazines from Vogue, Cosmo, Elle. Mine was more fashion oriented so that’s why I choose from those. But you can do anything you think of! Travel, art, fashion, you name it! I’d look for used book stores around your area, thrift stores, or the Goodwill where you usually can find tons of old magazines for cheap 🙂

  2. I LOVE the color tone you picked and the light up string for the polaroids really makes things pop!
