Cactus Nursery

A Cactus Nursery

Ok soo, I’ve always dreamed of making a Cactus Nursery and if you’ve been following me long you know my obsession with Cacti is real! I see a cactus picture, necklace, earrings, painting, or an ACTUAL cactus and I stop in my tracks…e-v-e-r-y-time! lol, I can’t help it and my husband would probably say, “it’s a problem.” But whatevs because when you like something, you like it, ya know? So of course when it came time to deciding how to decorate Shyla’s Nursery I had to incorporate a bohemian style feel with cactus accents. So here is how I decorated it under for under $400 and the links to everything else is below 🙂

My budget for redoing her room was around $400 bucks and I think we pretty much stayed within reach. The crib is vintage and was a gift, the dresser we redid and only paid $60 for it (roughly $100 after buying the supplies to redo it) and the deco all together was either bought on sale or thrifted! As for the chair, well if you saw my insta stories awhile back you know how absolutely in LOVE with this vintage chair that I searched high and low for and was able to snag for only $100!

The only truly expensive piece was our one-of-a-kind kilim rug from Kaya Kilims (if your a rug lover like me, please..do yourself a favor and check out her site) that we ordered a couple years ago for the dining room but ended up moving because well..that was a dumb idea to put that expensive thing in the dining room with kids, lol. I had it professionally cleaned and moved it into the room which complemented the colors PERFECTLY!

So what do you think? 🙂 It’s certainly my favorite rooms in the house!

SHOP THE POST

*Our accent wall color is called: “Deepest Woodland Green” by Glidden and we found it at Home Depot! We went with the Satin finish and this wall took two coats to achieve the color 😉

  1. Can you share the name/brand of the paint color? It’s just what we’ve been looking for for our little gal that’s due in April, and this is just perfect!

    1. Hey Johanna!

Unfortunately it’s your basic actually “unpainted” standard white wall from when we built the house. Haha we never painted it because we were to lazy but liked it that way! BUT…if your on the lookout for a good “white” I would suggest POLAR BEAR WHITE…we got it at Lowes and usually always go with a Satin finish. And for that color we painted the main areas…kitchen, halls, etc and really love it 🙂

  2. Hello there!! This room is just everything!! I was hoping you might be able to tell me where you got that beautiful rug?

    1. Hi Brittney,

I linked it in the middle I think, but it’s from a company called @kayakilims
They usually do free shipping and I believe they come from Turkey! It took us about 2 weeks once ordered to receive so you get a time estimate 🙂 But Nez (is the shop owners name) is soo sweet and picks the best one of kind kilim rugs for her shop 🙂

    1. AHH YAY thank you! It’s vintage and my grandmother found it at a yard sale actually. You can find similar vintage cribs on Craigslist or Offer UP 🙂

  3. Beautiful nursery! I came across your blog as I’m planning mine :] Looking for a nice cieling fan, and love yours. Do you happen to remember where it’s from? Thanks!

    1. Thank you soo much! Yes it is from Lowe’s and I think it ran us (actually my dad, as a gift, lol) about $80! But it looks like it would cost so much more right 😀 it’s so pretty in person.

  4. Its sooo pretty! I’m looking for inspiration for my babies room right now, so I’m so glad I came across your post. Is there any way you can tell me where you found your crib? Thanks!

  5. The hanging planter you tagged looks much different than the one in your photos. Is the one you used no longer available?

    1. To be honest it was just the original walls that the house was built with and never painted! But since we have moved, one neutral color that we painted our new home and love is Alabaster by Sherwin Williams. Hope that helps!
