Just Another Hair Care Post On: Growing Luscious Locks

Sooo, back in the day, I had this odd obsession with chopping all my hair off. My style inspiration: Rihanna, circa 2009. Okkk, I’ll admit, I was a little obsessed with all things Ri-Ri at that time, possibly from the fact her Rated R CD was helping me through some tough times in the male department if you know what I mean. I may have listened to that entire CD on repeat for a good year. Girl’s, if you’ve been there, I feel your pain.

Anywhooo…so I shaved the side of my head and left one side longer just like her hairstyle in the “Take A Bow” video (I’ll tag the link there for ya in case you want to reminisce). Awww man, did I think I was sooo cool. I’m proud to say not one tear was shed as I watched all my years worth of snarls and split ends be snipped away. It was so refreshing and felt like I was freeing myself of so much weight at the time. (What is it with breakups and haircuts anyways?) I literally would wake up, shower, and be on my merry way. But, like all girly girls, I missed my long hair after that fad I was going through wore off. And let’s just say the growing out phase wasn’t cute. There was a about a two month window there were I looked like I had a legit mullet when it wasn’t pinned up, hahaha!

So, getting to my point here, after two years of just letting it be, I believe I’ve finally figured out a pretty solid routine for growing those luscious locks fast (and by fast I mean as fast as time allows for you) and healthy!

Here’s what I use and my simple routine:

Bone Broth:

  • I started seeing a biological dentist last year, and let me tell you she’s amazing! If your interested in seeing one in SoCal just ask me her name. I’ve learned so much about the health of our teeth in correspondence with the different parts of our bodies. But for times sake, she recommended that I start drinking bone broth daily because of the toll pregnancy was taking on my teeth. I came home and researched the benefits and immediately began making my own and buying a premade version from our local health food store. Since I began drinking it daily I cannot tell you how much of a benefit I’ve seen in my hair, teeth, and skin! Drinking one cup a day does wonders for me but you could drink more or less depending on your preference. Below is the bottle I purchase, and you can find it online here, or you can read the 10 Benefits of Bone Broth and follow this home made version.

Prenatals & Omega 3 Vitamins:

  • I’m not sure if many know, but it’s actually considered a myth conjured up by pregnant woman about their use of prenatals during pregnancy that help hair grow long, thick and fast, when scientifically it is actually said to be from pregnancy hormones. With that said, I’m still gonna chop my prenatals and omega 3 supplements up to helping my hair growth because they are good to take anyways not only for your hair, but your skin, and I’m sure a good daily multivitamin would suffice just fine. The benefits of Omega-3 for hair is said to promote growth, sheen and luster, and most importantly to prevent a flaky scalp. These are the prenatals and omega 3 supplements I used through both pregnancies that I still take today.

Condition:

  • We all know conditioning is important. I condition every time I shower and deep condition once a month, plus put in a leave in conditioner while it’s wet. These are my favorite products.

Wooden Brush:

  • Using a wooden brush has been so much easier on my hair. It’s fairly gentle and the wooden bristles are said to naturally help condition hair by distributing your natural oils down the hair shaft. It never causes me any static, and helps with detangling. Massaging your scalp is said to help promote hair growth and this seems to aid in that.

There you have it! My simple routine for going from the shortest hair cut imaginable to long luscious locks. It only took me two years, which I think is quick considering all those trims in between! And for your viewing pleasure here’s that haircut I was talking about! (I wish I could insert that monkey covering his eyes emoji!!!) Thanks for reading. http___signatures.mylivesignature.com_54494_146_B634C40B7A13FF65D1274BEB05B92CBC

  3. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both equally educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you have hit the nail on the head. The issue is something too few people are speaking intelligently about. I’m very happy I stumbled across this in my search for something regarding this.|
