The Girls’ Shared Bedroom Makeover

Who remembers having a shared bedroom with your sibling? I sure do. Ahh, those nostalgic late night chats and sibling rivalry when you tried your might night to be so loud as to wake your parents are all coming back to me. My two oldest children are now at the age where they want to share a room (we shall see how long this lasts). So today I want to share the before and after of our girls’ shared bedroom makeover!

Here is what the room used to look like!

As you can see it was super basic with two beds and some dressers basically just thrown in there with no thought to it at all. (And yes, if you are wondering why there’s a TV in there, we do give the girl’s TV time at night to calm them down before bed and it works for us.) The emphasis I really wanted for the room was to not include character decorating (i.e. Disney princesses and such), but more of a room that could grow with them.

And here is what it looks like now!
This wall was inspired by a Pinterest post I saw on A Beautiful Mess. I printed out each design and then traced them onto the wall with carbon paper before painting over the designs with Valspar Young At Heart paint for the golden camel color.
These duvets were purchased from Urban Outfitters and I can’t tell you how soft and beautiful they are in person! Need one for my own room stat. I choose two different colors to add some spunk which were the Gold and Mauve.
These Cuddle and Kind dolls are the girl’s favorites! They each have one and though they seem pricey these are the kind of dolls that will last and can be passed down to generations. The purchase of each doll also provides TEN meals for children in need.
This beautiful custom night light guitar was gifted to us by my cousin and I can’t even tell you how many compliments we get on it.
This sliding closet door lock is a life savor if your kids love to get in their closets and take everything out like mine do! (NOTE: The one I have here is no longer available so I linked a similar which serves the same purpose).
The wall collage kit I used is by Instagram Influencer Tezza and is the Dream Kit. You can check out her other kits on the site too our DIY your own. Check out my DIY Collage Kit post I did for my own room 🙂

DIY COLLAGE WALL

I love walking into their room so much now! The most tedious part of the room was redoing the accent wall. I choose 10 different shapes, printed them off, measured out the distance and space for the wall, then traced them all with carbon paper before painting with a 1/4 inch brush. I’m so happy with the way it turned out but once this whole covid-19 quarantine stuff is over, I will be adding floating bookshelves too. Hope your inspired! 🙂

  1. Wow what a transformation. I absolutely love the colors you used and little details on the wall. And that collage is TOP! Love it! Great job!

  2. Everything about this room makeover just shines, but I’m totally in love with that guitar night light! (It would go nicely with the 20-some stringed instruments we have around the house, too.) Think I might have to DIY one up!
